My career has crossed boundaries that usually sit in separate teams.I started on the finance side — systems accounting, treasury and FP&A — before moving into executive strategy and risk leadership in banking, including sitting on the executive team and attending Board and Audit & Risk Committee meetings.I later moved deeper into technology through ERP consulting, software development, integration and DevOps.That means I can move from a Board-level conversation about risk, investment and business priorities into the detail of an integration, control or broken process — and understand how the two are connected.

Case Studies

Financial Services — Process and reconciliation improvement

Finance relied on a brittle bank reconciliation process with only about 30% of transactions auto-matched, while system-posting problems had created material balance sheet discrepancies.Implemented an immediate tactical control in Excel, then redesigned and automated the reconciliation process using SSIS; traced posting issues end-to-end and reviewed the broader Finance systems landscape.Increased auto-matching to more than 99%; identified and corrected a $10m balance sheet discrepancy, including $1m of unrecognised revenue; and reduced annual system costs by $40k.

Education — TechnologyOne Financials migrations

Two private school systems were moving from SUN Financials to TechnologyOne as part of broader ERP programs that also included HR and Payroll.Technical lead across the Financials implementations, including design workshops, system configuration, integrations, ETL automation, EOM/EOFY processes and controls. Built integrations with student management and procurement systems, along with the GL integration for HR and Payroll and custom automation for access control requirements.Delivered both Financials migrations to TechnologyOne and continued supporting post-Go Live improvement, user capability and design changes as the organisations moved from implementation into BAU.

Armidale Regional Council amalgamation — Financials and Payroll

A newly formed regional council needed to bring inherited Finance and Payroll arrangements together following council amalgamation while maintaining operational continuity.Led the TechnologyOne Financials system amalgamation and the Payroll reimplementation, including Employee Self Service, working with Finance and Payroll stakeholders to translate requirements into a common design.Established a consolidated TechnologyOne platform for the merged organisation and a clearer basis for ongoing Finance and Payroll ownership after transition.
